This month has been quite full on, what with revision for my exams, college and working in the practice. Still, I have been thoroughly enjoying every moment. I have been mainly focussing on learning the anatomy and physiology of different species of animal. This has included taking a closer look during surgeries, and seeing how the body works together. I have included a picture of something I looked at under the microscope. I wonder, can guess what it is? I will tell you at the bottom of the post. Looking under the microscope at various body tissues has really helped consolidate my understanding.
I have also been taking more responsibility when admitting your pets and discharging them after operations. This is a part of the job I am really enjoying, it’s great to see the owners behind the pets.
For my training, we must complete a log of everything we are doing, called the Nursing Progress Log. There are certain targets to meet, which my college tutors have set; I am happy to report I have been hitting all the targets and I am on schedule to complete my first year with the required skills completed, hooray!
Thank you for the continued support of everyone in the practice, and all of the clients who trust me to look after their pets.
I can’t wait to see what the next month holds.
